Chairs of Hope 2013!
Chairs of Hope is an art-based community outreach project in which students & staff at Vandora Springs Elementary School in Garner, NC paint wooden chairs to raise money for the fight against cancer through Relay for Life of Garner. Each year, over 30 chairs are hand-painted with a specific theme in mind. The finished chairs are then auctioned off in a silent auction format in April, with all the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
Though I haven’t painted a chair for this year’s Chairs of Hope auction, I am happy to be a part of it in some way. I have been working on a video project with Chairs of Hope founder Jim Hunt, and am glad to share part of it here on the blog along with the blog/website and poster I created to help advertise the event. This year’s theme is “Sports,” and my lovely wife decided to base her chair around Quidditch from Harry Potter 🙂
CHAIRS OF HOPE 2012
Recently, I designed this poster to help promote an awesome event called Chairs of Hope. Vandora Springs Elementary School Art Club members (and anyone else who wants to chip in) paint chairs with different themes each year. These chairs are sold at a silent auction to raise money for Relay For Life. The theme for 2012 is “Famous Works of Art.”
